February is
here, and on
Monday, February 14th, it will be Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is a
day that is celebrated with cards, flowers, chocolates or whatever you
feel is a treat for you and your loved ones. While Valentine’s Day is a
fun day to acknowledge the important people in our lives, it is also
important to remember to take care of ourselves.
February is
Heart Month. For the whole month of February, the Heart and Stroke
Foundation of B.C. wants us to take care of our hearts and our health.
“Every
7 minutes in Canada, someone dies from heart disease or stroke. Heart
disease and stroke are two of the three leading causes of death in
Canada.” (Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C.)
Below are two
links to give you some information to help live a healthier life for
you and the ones you love. This information is current and Canadian.
Visit the Healthy
Living
section of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. website.
The
section gives information on Healthy Eating, Physical Activities,
Recipes, Healthy Weight, Family Health, and other resources like coping
with stress, and other healthy habits.
If you have children in your life, this is a great link to get
information on Healthy
Eating, Healthy Activities, Being Healthy at School,
and some information that you can read together with your children in
order to give them information on how to be healthy for life.
While
February is Heart month, the information here is to be used all year
long to create a healthy, long life for you and your loved ones. Life
is stressful and busy, so it is very important we take care of our
hearts and health.
