Adult Learning Centre: Weekly Feature

Since March is Nutrition Month and I am in Florida, it seemed fitting that this week’s weekly feature cover Florida’s most popular fruit, the orange.
Oranges are healthy. They contain vitamin C, which helps protect our bodies from disease and helps our bodies grow and circulate blood properly. They also contain fiber which can help with digestion. Eating just one orange provides enough vitamin C for a full day. To maximize your health benefits, eat the orange on an empty stomach about 20 minutes before a meal.
For more information about oranges look at some of these websites:
Read the sample descriptive paragraph and answer the questions that follow it to help prepare for the English certificate tests.
An Orange Grove
If you travel to Florida, stop at one of the many orange groves, and you’ll have a pleasant sensory experience. You’ll see rows of green trees laden with ripe round oranges. You’ll smell the sweet scent of tiny flowers that will soon bear fruit. You’ll hear the soft buzzing sound of the bees that will pollinate the flowers. If you’re lucky, you’ll also taste a juicy segment from one of the many freshly picked oranges. I was happy I made this stop on my recent trip to Florida, and I think you will be too.
