During
these exciting days of the winter Olympics, it is helpful to know the
correct verbs and adverbs to discuss the winter sports. Last weekend,
Maelle Ricker snowboarded down a bumpy Cypress slope and won a gold
medal. A few days later, Ashleigh McIvor skied skillfully and also won
gold. Earlier this week, the figure skating pair, Tessa Virtue and
Scott Moir, skated gracefully and won gold, and the courageous Joannie
Rochette won bronze. Kristina Groves skated strongly and won 4 medals.
Later, Clara Hughes skated powerfully and won bronze. In Whistler, two
women’s bobsleigh teams rode speedily down the icy track and won gold
and silver. The Canadian men’s hockey team has played aggressively and
won games. The talented women’s hockey team won gold. Hopefully the men
will also win gold soon. The men’s and women’s curling teams curled
extremely well and won gold and silver. I think, we are all very proud
of the athletes in Vancouver’s winter Olympics especially the
Canadians, and by talking about their accomplishments with the
appropriate verbs and adverbs, we can show our pride.
