October: Positive Thinking Month
October is usually associated with
Thanksgiving and Halloween, not positive thinking. However,
fall and winter are two seasons which require us to be more
positive. The weather is cold and rainy, so we get outside
less. Being indoors often seems to cause the spread of more
colds and the flu. In addition, the sun is hidden behind
clouds for days ,which can cause many people to feel
depressed. As a result, positive thinking is something people
should actively practice in the fall.
Positive thinking is a mental attitude that
expects good and favorable results. A positive mind anticipates
happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome of every situation
and action. Whatever the mind expects, it finds. It is quite common
to hear people say: "Think positive!” to someone who feels down and
worried. Most people do not take these words seriously, as they do
not know what they really mean, or do not consider them as useful
and effective. How many people do you know who stop to think what
the power of positive thinking means?
Here are some suggestions to help you been more
positive this fall and winter.
1. Decide to have a positive attitude. We are
responsible for our own happiness; other people can’t MAKE us happy.
2. Surround yourself with positive people. We
become like the people we spend the most time with.
3. Use positive affirmations. Replace “I hate
getting up in the morning” with “I am grateful for a new day.”
5. Take time to help other people. Perform some
community service; help a neighbor in need.
6. Get in touch with your spiritual source.
7. Don’t stop; never give up.
8. Do some physical activity everyday.
9. Make time for yourself and do things you really
enjoy.
