The Virtue
of Simplicity
William Zinsser, in his book,
On Writing Well, has this to say about simplicity: "But the
secret of good writing is to strip every sentence to its cleanest
components."
He goes on to say that the problems of overly
involved writing increase with our levels of education!
So, keep your sentences simple. It's good
advice.
