Participles: Verbs
as Adjectives
What are those you wonder?
Have you ever met a fast-talking sales representative in
an ironed shirt with cuffed sleeves? If you have, you might be able pick
out the participles: "fast-talking," "ironed," and "cuffed."
Each of the participles in the example sentence originates
in a present ("talking") or past participle ("ironed" and "cuffed").
Adjectives add flavour to your writing, so any beginning writer
should make a dedicated effort to include participles.
