expressions you might like to include in your writing.
De facto:
Another interesting expression taken
from Latin it may mean "in fact, in reality, in actual
existence, force, or possession, as a matter of fact."—from
the Oxford English Dictionary.
E.g., "He was the de facto
captain of the team, although he had never been elected to the
position."
Status quo:
Another Latin expression that means, "The
existing state of affairs."—OED
E.g., "We can no longer
tolerate the status quo when it comes to climate change."
